Unleash Your Zone of Genius: Make Your Strengths Work for You

What if I were to tell you…..that you actually held the keys to the castle this whole time?

You have an array of tools in your toolkit that are sitting dormant on the back shelf that you forgot you had.

Let’s change that shall we?

See we are brought up in a society that teaches us what we are lacking. What are weaknesses are. Where we could improve. How we aren’t enough in all the which ways.

But there is duality here—and on the other side of those weaknesses lie strengths and gifts that will absolutely change the game for you as a business owner.

How will this provide results in my business?:

Having a better understanding of who you are and what you bring to the table will not only enhance yourself as a business owner but will no doubt skyrocket the results that you provide to your clients.

When you know who you are and what you’re working with, you’ll recognize that you already have tools in your toolbox to use right from the get-go, some of those being ones that you’ve had for your whole life. Understanding these skills will unlock a level of confidence in you that will only support you in showing up as your most bold, authentic self. You won’t shy away from that post on instagram. You won’t question your ability to create. You will see that all this time—you had the pieces to the puzzle and they are unique to YOU!

How to discover our own unique strengths:

First and foremost—take inventory of what you know about yourself. Ask questions like:

What are my strengths if I had to name them?

What do people come to me for advice for?

How do I navigate situations?

What traits help me as a business owner?
And if you are struggling with answering these questions yourself then I invite you to either phone a friend (a supportive on that is) and/or dive into the personality tests below.

Tests to help you discover your strengths:

Strength Finders ($16.50 includes book)

Human Design (free to take)

Enneagram (free to take)

Myers and Briggs Test (free to take)

Have I taken all of the above? You betcha! And I recommend doing the same at some point but for your now your next step is to pick ONE! Comment below which one you picked—I’m curious!

Cheers to discovering how freaking AMAZING you already are!

What’s next?

When you know what you’re working with you can then learn how to apply these strengths to your specific work setting.

My own example:

First Strength — The ability to help bring ideas to life (discovered by Human Design): Human Design pretty much confirmed the entire business model of The Passion Pursuit. I have the ability to hear an idea and break it down into bite sized manageable pieces with a clear plan of action that helps a creative go from stagnant to action. This one is pretty self explanatory for how it helps with my specific business model.

Second Strength — Empathy (discovered by Strength Finders): This one wasn’t one that I wasn’t familiar but was one that I actually saw as a weakness for a very long time. I didn’t know how to hold a boundary with it and so my empathetic side was on 24/7. I wasn’t mindful at the time of what I was consuming and overall felt a sense of heaviness.

But when I began coaching and mentoring clients, I realized that empathy and the ability to listen could be my greatest gift of all. I use empathy to hold space for my clients to have a better understanding of what they need when they need it. I have a way of listening, which helps me to be a better coach and helps me to understand if somebody needs to slow down or to speed up. I have been told that I am the blend of the masculine and feminine aspects of business as I have the discernment to know when to slow down and tune in or when to speed up and create structure. A lot of this has to do with the ability to connect on a deeper level and I now see empathy as a great strength.

Third Strength —Fun (discovered by Enneagram) I am an enneagram 7 through and through. I LOVE to bring the fun, the bright, the bold, and of course a splash of confetti to the spaces I hold and the services I create. I literally have confetti falling from the top of my website when you go to the Contact Page . Having fun has been a stable for The Passion Pursuit. Because pursuing what you love sure as heck should be enjoyable and I make sure that it is! I’m here to celebrate the heck out of my clients, encourage them to be their bold authentic self, and enjoy the process along the way—even before the outcome and desired results.

In Conclusion:

Dive into a test (or two!) and think about how this serves you in the type of business that you run, how this can impact your clients, your community, your podcast, and lean into your strengths.

Remember, there’s always areas for us to improve but let us not forget the things that we are good at.
