The One Tool I Didn’t Know I Needed (and Now Can’t Work Without)

This isn’t the first time I have shared about my favorite business tool on the blog (and I highly doubt it will be my last) because as the months pass–this tool continues to remind me of why I chose it and why I choose to stay with it after all of these years.

What tool am I referring to–you might be asking?? I’m talking about Flodesk.

Why I use Flodesk?

Flodesk is my go to recommendation for all things email marketing. And if you aren’t sure why you as a business need an email list you’ll want to first start HERE by listening to this episode on The Passion Pursuit Podcast.

But in summary–Flodesk is a user-friendly email system that allows me to stay connected to my community without having a tech headache in doing so. It’s like having a design team in your pocket. Flodesk has given me so much time back because of how easy to use it is and has allowed me to set up and automate many aspects of my business so that the business isn’t running me. You can become an expert in email marketing without the overwhelming learning curve of learning another platform.

What I love about Flodesk as a company?

The thing about Flodesk is they have a way of coming out with features and integrations that you didn’t even realize you needed and now can’t remember life without them.

Dawn Richardson came on The Passion Pursuit Podcast recently and when talking about flodesk this was her direct quote, “When a tool is intuitive, easy to use, not a friction point in your business–that’s what stands out to me. And when you have a team behind a tool that is on your side and is ready to do what they need to do to make your business successful-that stands out so much to me.”

And this rings true. This company is community focused and wants to be sure that they are setting you as a small business owner up for success–and success with ease nonetheless.

I didn’t think my love for this company could grow any further and then they came out with this integration.

The Integration that is changing the game for me:

Canva x Flodesk.

Oh. My. Word.

Now I’ll be honest. When this was first announced I was like that’s cool but I didn't realize just how much time it would end up saving me.

Flodesk now integrates with Canva and allows you to pick your designs directly in the Flodesk platform to add to your emails.

What did this process look like before this integration?

I used both platforms religiously. From a brand perspective it was important to create recognition through my emails and using imagery to do just that.

I used to….

  1. Design email banners within Canva

  2. Make sure they were sized correctly for what I wanted them to look like within Flodesk

  3. Download them one by one

  4. Head over to flodesk

  5. Open my email draft

  6. Add image

  7. And upload them.

Now this may not seem all that crazy but from a time perspective it was tedious work that was taking me away from more important tasks in my business. Not too mention it made it more challenging to batch and work ahead because I was having to go through that process for every single email.

How has this integration changed the game?

As I was preparing for maternity leave I decided to schedule ALL emails for both updates on the podcast and on the blog. For every podcast email I have a different email banner image at the top that will include a picture of the guest featured on that show.

So now I can go into Flodesk–pop over to Canva through Flodesk to edit the image if needed or if it’s ready to go after I batched them in Canva all that’s left to do is:

  1. Add image block

  2. Select upload from Canva

  3. And choose the image that I want to include in that section of the email.

That’s it–3 easy peasy steps.

I was able to design them all in Canva in minutes and no longer have to download them bit by bit while trying to remember what the file name was called before it gets lost in the abyss of my download section.

Absolute game changer.

What other integrations does Flodesk have?

And if you think this is the only one you are mistaken.

Flodesk is committed to continuously adding integrations to the platform based on direct feedback from the community.

So far Flodesk integrates with:

  • Shopify

  • Canva

  • Bookfunnel

  • Interact

  • Marvelous

  • Session

  • Involve.me

  • BDOW!

  • Mediavine

  • Honeybook

You can also connect Flodesk to your custom website and online store as well as with other tools through Zapier connections.

And the way they are rolling out features–I have a feeling this is just the beginning.

In conclusion:

Flodesk is the tool that will allow you to feel more at ease because it truly works for you rather then you constantly feeling like you have to be working on it.

I set it and forget it with my emails now because I am able to design and schedule them that quickly.

Being that I am heading on maternity leave AND knowing that life is going to look a little different with a little one, time is my most important asset. Knowing because of this integration that it made it that much easier to have emails scheduled for the podcast and the blog all the way through to October of this year is wild to me and gives me such peace of mind to know that my business can continue to operate with me even as I’m over here snuggling with my baby girl.

I will forever rave about this tool of mine and teach on how you can use it to get time back.

Because at the end of the day we are here to build businesses that support our lives first and Flodesk helps to do just that.
