Working In Your Strengths
I have a fun activity for you.
First step: Grab a piece of a paper, a pen, and a timer on your phone.
Second step!: Write your name as many times as you can in 30 seconds.
Third step!: Now switch hands and write your name as many times as you can with your OPPOSITE hand in 30 seconds.
How’d ya do in comparison to your dominant hand?
See the difference when we focus on our strengths?
But most often we focus only on what we are lacking, on what weaknesses we can improve, but what if you had a better understanding of your individual strengths and leaned into those?
Have you ever taken Gallup’s Strength Finder’s Test?
I took this test 3 years ago and was blown away by the mindset shift that this gave me. It allowed me to see where my strengths lie and better understand who I am and what I have to offer the world.
I discovered that I was too close to my super powers (strengths) to recognize that they were in fact strengths. For example, one of my top strengths was positivity. For me that comes natural and so it was hard for me to ever see that as a strength until it was brought to my attention from a family member that this was indeed a gift that many do not have in this world.
From there I was able to not only have a better understanding of what my strengths were but I got curious with how I could use these strengths in my personal and professional life.
My top five strengths:
1. Developer
2. Empathy
3. Futuristic
4. Belief
5. Positivity
